Curry Chicken

Today 28 is the last day of February,yeah..so fast the time passed,I still enjoy my work at home job,and do the rutine activities,we can do our activities at home or go shopping or go to supermarket to buy anything that suits for us,for me I like cooking so I buy cooking ingredients.ha..ha..
Today I want to cook curry chicken,and want to share my recipe with you all... Its taste good with a little spicy...
CURRY CHICKEN
Ingredients :
500 g chicken cut in to pieces
1/4 cup coconut milk
1/4 cup water
1 tsp salt
A : 3 cm cinnamon stick
30 g lemon grass (crushed )
1/2 tbs curry powder
1/2 tbs chilli powder
80 g shallots
15 g garlic (shallots +garlic blended with 1/4 cup oil)
Method :

  1. Combine ingredients A and fry in a pan on medium fire,uncovered for about 5 minutes.
  2. Add in water,salt and chicken pieces.
  3. Cover and cook on medium fire for about 10 minutes.
  4. Stir in coconut milk and cook,uncovered to 2 or 3 minutes.
  5. Serve hot with rice/noodles.

Makes : 4-6 servings.

Food as medicine

Hello...do you know that foods we eat every day can be medicine ? I think its good because it taste good he..he... try to look a while...

Food as Medicine
  • HEADACHE ?EAT FISH! Eat plenty of fish -- fish oil helps prevent headaches. So does ginger, which reduces inflammation and pain.
  • HAD FEVER? EAT YOGURT! Eat lots of yogurt before pollen season. Also-eat honey from your area (local region) daily.
  • TO PREVENT STROKE DRINK TEA! Prevent buildup of fatty deposits on artery walls with regular doses of tea. (actually, tea suppresses my appetite and keeps the pounds from invading....Green tea is great for our immune system)!
  • INSOMNIA (CAN'T SLEEP?) HONEY! Use honey as a tranquilizer and sedative.
  • ASTHMA? EAT ONIONS!!!! Eating onions helps ease constriction of bronchial tubes. (when I was young, my mother would make onion packs to place on our chest, helped the respiratory ailments and actually made us breathe better).
  • ARTHRITIS? EAT FISH, TOO!! Salmon, tuna, mackerel and sardines actually prevent arthritis. (fish has omega oils, good for our immune system)
  • UPSET STOMACH? BANANAS - GINGER!!!!! Bananas will settle an upset stomach. Ginger will cure morning sickness and nausea.
  • BLADDER INFECTION? DRINK CRANBERRY JUICE!!!! High-acid cranberry juice controls harmful bacteria.
  • BONE PROBLEMS? EAT PINEAPPLE!!! Bone fractures and osteoporosis can be prevented by the manganese in pineapple.
  • PREMENSTRUAL SYNDROME? EAT CORNFLAKES!!!! Women can ward off the effects of PMS with cornflakes, which help reduce depression, anxiety and fatigue.
  • MEMORY PROBLEMS? EAT OYSTERS! Oysters help improve your mental functioning by supplying much-needed zinc.
  • COLDS? EAT GARLIC! Clear up that stuffy head with garlic. (remember, garlic lowers cholesterol, too.)
  • COUGHING? USE RED PEPPERS!! A substance similar to that found in the cough syrups is found in hot red pepper. Use red (cayenne) pepper with caution-it can irritate your tummy.
  • BREAST CANCER? EAT Wheat, bran and cabbage Helps to maintain estrogen at healthy levels.
  • LUNG CANCER? EAT DARK GREEN AND ORANGE AND VEGGIES!!! A good antidote is beta carotene, a form of Vitamin A found in dark green and orange vegetables.

  • DIARRHEA? EAT APPLES! Grate an apple with its skin, let it turn brown and eat it to cure this condition. (Bananas are good for this ailment)
  • CLOGGED ARTERIES? EAT AVOCADO! Mono unsaturated fat in avocados lowers cholesterol.
  • HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE? EAT CELERY AND OLIVE OIL!!! Olive oil has been shown to lower blood pressure. Celery contains a chemical that lowers pressure too.
  • BLOOD SUGAR IMBALANCE? EAT BROCCOLI AND PEANUTS!!! The chromium in broccoli and peanuts helps regulate insulin and blood sugar.

And these are some fruit thats very useful to us :

  1. Kiwi: Tiny but mighty. This is a good source of potassium, magnesium, Vitamin E &fiber. It's Vitamin C content is twice that of an orange.
  2. Apple: An apple a day keeps the doctor away? Although an apple has a low Vitamin C content, it has antioxidants &flavonoids which enhances the activity of Vitamin C thereby helping to lower the risks of colon cancer, heart attack & stroke.
  3. Strawberry: Protective fruit. Strawberries have the highest total antioxidant power among major fruits &protects the body from cancer causing, blood vessels clogging free radicals. (Actually, any berry is good for you..they're high in anti-oxidants and they actually keep us young.........blueberries are the best and very versatile in the health field........they get rid of all the free-radicals that invade our bodies)
  4. Orange: Sweetest medicine. Taking 2 - 4 oranges a day may help keep colds away, lower cholesterol, prevent & dissolve kidney stones as well as lessen the risk of colon cancer.
  5. Watermelon: Coolest Thirst Quencher. Composed of 92% water, it is also packed with a giant dose of glutathione which helps boost our immune system. They are also a key source of lycopene - the cancer fighting oxidant. Other nutrients found in watermelon are Vitamin C &Potassium. (watermelon also has natural substances [natural SPF sources] that keep our skin healthy, protecting our skin from those darn suv rays)
  6. Guava &Papaya: Top awards for Vitamin C. They are the clear winners for their high Vitamin C content. Guava is also rich in fiber which helps prevent constipation.
  7. Papaya is rich in carotene, this is good for your eyes. (also good for gas and indigestion)
  8. Tomatoes are very good as a preventative measure for men, keeps those prostrate problems from invading their bodies.

Hot milk ginger with honey

Hi...two days ago I have been share a food recipe, today is sunday in Indonesia,Jakarta....I like to share a drink recipe,may be it suitable for people in cold weather or a rainy day.Last night in Jakarta have a heavy rain,so today I like to write a little drink.
HOT MILK GINGER WITH HONEY
Ingredients :
  • 500 g old ginger
  • 1000 ml hot water
  • 2 egg ( take only the inside one,yellow)
  • 500 ml warm milk
  • 5 tbs honey

Method :

  1. Cut the ginger in a small pieces and blend it with blender.Put the blend ginger in the hot water and separate it after a while time.
  2. Stir the yellow egg up to smooth and mix it with honey.
  3. Pour the hot ginger water ( no.1 ) in the no.2 .Mix it again.
  4. At last add warm milk in the no.3 and serve it.

Makes : 6 servings.

Tips : Serve it with warm condition,or after made it.

recipe ginger duck

Hi..today I like to write a little recipe to share with all of you...like I said before that I like to cook at home.
The recipe of this time is " ginger duck"
GINGER DUCK
Ingredients:
A : 80 g young ginger,sliced
30 g soya bean paste
10 g garlic,chopped
2 tbs cooking oil

B : 500 g duck pieces (remove skin and fat)
1 cup water
1 1/2 tbs dark soya sauce
1 tbs comflour
2 tbs water
( comflour and water mixed together )
suger,salt,pepper to taste

Method :

  1. Stir fry all ingredients A at a pan,uncovered on medium fire for about 5 minutes (or become brown).
  2. Add ingredients B mix well,cooked covered on power medium for about 8 minutes.
  3. Continue to cook duck on power low fire for about 45 minutes.
  4. Serve ginger duck hot with rice

Makes : 4 - 6 servings

Have a test if you interested.Make a cup of tea to serve it together will be better I think....but its all depends of you.

Chinese New Year

Today I have a little time to write,after have alot of activities to celebration chinese new year or lunar new year.After have water floating in Jakarta ,its time to have lunar new year 18 February.
All chinese people prepare this celebration by buying a lot of food,candy and fruit.
The very special chinese cake call " nien kau ",that is a brown cake that taste very sweet.The new year must have all things sweet like cake,candy and fruit,they believe serve sweet thing to pray can have a good prosperity,good fortune.
A day before the celebration day,all family must go home and sit together to have a very big dinner,all food are very much and big size too,like thanksgiving day in the western.
After have dinner,at midnight 24:00 they all pray to the God and serve the "nien kau",fruit and candy and hope that all family and people have a good year,good fortune,happines and etc.
At the new year 1st day all family go to their older family's home like grand mother and father.The children are very happy because the old one like grand mother,antie give them "hong bau".
"Hong bau" is a red anvelope and inside have money.The older one or who have maried have to give the younger " hong bau".Its the tradition of chinese people.
The celebration start from the 1 st day of lunar year and ended at 15 th day.In China or chinese country the celebration is more beautiful and complete .In Indonesia only in a few days and all begins to do their daily activities again.
For me its very fun,excited and happy too but I have to a little busy to have this celebration new year. Yeah...thats a little story I can share with all of your but this is not a very complete story ...he..he...only a little.

Travelling to Bali

I have come back from my holiday at Bali.It is a very beautiful place,the beach is good,the sand is very soft,white and the sun set is perfect,the people very kind too and helpful but when I came back to Jakarta,there is a bad things happens in Jakarta. Yes....water every where....Jakarta is floating ...almost all of Jakarta is floating....
Its a very sad to see so much people lost their home,they have no home,no food, no drink because of floating.The goverment and the citizen work together to help them.
Most of them lost their work,lost their place to doing business and some of them can not go to work.
Fortunately that my home is high so its save from water....
But there is no electric every where...thats is why that I can not write for a long time...
